Translation / Context — first pass
Handwritten Korean manuscript — first-pass transcription in progress. Pak Ch'ang-ok was one of the most significant Soviet Korean leaders in the early DPRK. He served as Vice-Premier and was a leading figure in the August Factional Incident (1956), when Soviet and Chinese-aligned party members attempted to challenge Kim Il-sung's dominance. After the failed attempt, Pak fled to the Soviet Union and was stripped of all positions. His fate in the USSR is less documented.
